Hidden in the all of the small things - The Wyrdwood Way

Hi / Hej
Welcome to Wyrdwood

Both designer-makers David and Sandra, produce handmade Jewellery, Danish Bobbin lace and bespoke giftware.

Inspired by loving memories of the forest and wilderness of their native countries Both designers incorporate British and Danish design with hints of abstract and whimsical themes into what they create. Exploring the idea that memories are in the details of the places we visit and fall in love with.

From the elegant butterfly to the mighty stag the elements of nature that surround us help us reflect what they represent to us and how we personify their stories to tell our own and can produce a sense of “Hygge” from the memories we revisit.

What we do?
Both David and Sandra are qualified Goldsmiths and professional Designer-Makers. Trained at the School of Jewellery in Birmingham where they met, have worked together in the Jewellery industry since 2013. Apart from Jewellery David and Sandra love and work in other crafts such as glass engraving, Leather work, 3D Design and Printing and finally Sandra is a 3rd generation Bobbin Lace maker.

Who are we?
Sandra:

From the tiny island of Als in the of south Denmark, near Sønderborg, Sandra’s childhood was growing up surrounded by the countryside located around Farmland the forest and the coastline of the Baltic sea. She gets her creativity from the magical surroundings and the very heart and soul of her Viking heritage and Nordic way of life. Inspired by nature and having a heart full of “Hygge” she hopes her creations reflect Nature, Family and Magic.

David:

Growing up in the Black Country, West Midlands, UK which is an industrial area meant that escaping to the countryside became a hobby and a passion. Trying to escape the mechanised world of towns and cities David fell in love with Folktales, magic and a love of the Nordic and Celtic heritage of the UK. Using both natural forms and historic influence David loves to produce little artworks that tell a story that could be pulled out from the earth or discovered in the wilderness.
